This year marks the 10th anniversary of iPhone, and unsurprisingly, Apple has marked it with something spectacular: iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. As an Apple fan, you must be eager to know the details and the iPhone prices in India. So let’s get down to the details.
Design and Display
To begin with, the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are equipped with the similar Bionic processor as their counterparts. There isn’t much difference between iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus and the previous generation iPhone 7 and iPhone Plus. But the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have new glass bodies, which are sandwiched in an aluminum frame. Unlike iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus continues to host the Touch ID Home Button and bezels at the top and bottom of the display.
iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch display, whereas iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch display. Both, however, have been upgraded with True Tone Support. This is designed in order to adapt color temperatures and intensity to the light around to provide a more natural viewing experience. Furthermore, the new iPhones have 3D Touch and P3 Wide Colour Support features to provide a better range of colors.
The new glass body enables a Qi-based inductive wireless charging. You can easily charge the devices by placing them on top of any Qi-certified inductive charger.
Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are embedded with six-core A11 Bionic Chip. Apple claims this to be the most powerful and smartest chip ever produced for a smartphone. The two performance cores are 25% faster than the previous versions of the phone, i.e. iPhone 7, and the four efficiency cores are 70% faster. All 6 cores are harnessed at the same time, making them smarter and faster. This helps the devices to handle multi-tasks easily and effortlessly. Also, the newly designed 3-core GPU is 30% faster than its predecessors.
Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature better cameras than before with new sensors that let 83% more light into the camera. Also, the newly introduced image signal processor makes the camera perform better under low light. And the new pixel processing techniques makes for a sharper pixel texture. They are calibrated for AR.
What’s more, they are equipped with hardware that enables multi-band noise reduction, deeper pixels, which further leads to better colour saturation and wide dynamic range of colour.
The rest is quite similar to iPhone 7: dual-lens camera setup with f/2.8 lens and f/1.8 wide-angle lens. Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with optical image stabilization and wide-angle lens.
The portrait mode has been updated with a new Portrait Lighting Effect that changes the lighting in an image dramatically. However, this is limited to iPhone 8 Plus.
Coming to the video, the newly designed video encoder and image signal processor enabling faster video frame rates and allows real-time motion and image analysis. The video capture is incredibly good with 4K video at 60fps.
The iPhone 8 is priced at Rs. 64,000 for 64GB variant and Rs. 77,000 for 256GB storage. iPhone 8 Plus 64GB and 256GB storage options are priced at Rs. 73,000 and Rs. 86,000 respectively.
